It can be very difficult to decide on the best probiotic for your particular health concerns.
For example, if you've been suffering from the pain of irritable bowel syndrome, you've probably read about the correlation between probiotics and IBS relief.
But should you just go out and grab the first bottle of acidophilus that you spot on a Walmart shelf? Not really, but that's exactly what I used to do myself.
The truth is that there's a big difference between the quality of probiotics that you can buy.
First of all, there are different types of probiotics, properly referred to as "strains" because they are, of course, bacteria - albeit "good" bacteria.
Acidophilus is just one strain of this good bacteria that helps boost your immune system, but is it the best probiotic of the bunch?
Research indicates that it is better to have a combination of different strains in your probiotic supplement to get the best results.
Don't get me wrong! Acidophilus alone is better than no probiotic at all, as long as you are getting live or active (CFU) colon forming units.
Check your labels before purchasing. It's better to get a guarantee of live bacteria until a set "expiration date" than a guarantee of live bacteria at time of manufacturing. They could (and well may be!) dead by the time you take them.
One of my favorite probiotic supplements is Florafood, although there are plenty more good probiotics to choose from. I've included a selection at the bottom of the page for you to investigate further if you prefer.
If you're suffering from IBS, you have my sincerest sympathies. Irritable bowel is a painful condition and one that can lead to other health concerns if not dealt with appropriately.
Although there is not technically a "cure" for IBS according to current medical science, many people have found immense help by using herbal dietary fiber like Herbal Fiberblend and probiotics, like Florafood on a daily basis, along with making some dietary changes.
It's pretty obvious that poor eating habits need to be addressed when you are dealing with any health concerns, but particularly digestive health. But, it's really important to realize that adding the best probiotic you can afford and a good herb and fiber combo gives your body the tools it needs to help digest your food properly and eliminate the waste while boosting your immune system while you're at it.
There's a very good chance that you may even be able to eliminate the problem of IBS entirely with a long course of probiotics and Herbal Fiberblend (as the herbs have a healing effect on the intestines for many people).
To your good health!
