Constipated When Traveling

Hello! I am always constipated when traveling (even when traveling just in the USA). I am not going over seas - just the USA.
I am going in a few days and was wondering if there is anything I can do before I go to prevent this from happening.
If possible could you please let me know as soon as possible--as I leave in 2 days.
Hi MM,
I completely understand the problem you have with getting constipated when traveling. It doesn't have to be overseas travel to make constipation a problem. I think it's just the upset to your routine and the underlying excitement/stress of the trip that does us in.
Not to mention, we usually eat a little differently when we travel, which doesn't help.
If your trip wasn't so soon, I'd tell you to get a pot of
Herbal Fiberblend and take it with you to use each day. It makes all the difference in the world for me.
Unfortunately, even if I were to process the order for you today, you'd never get it on time. :(
The alternatives for you to consider are these....
- Make a habit of drinking more water while you're traveling. I know it makes you have to take more bathroom breaks, but the water helps to keep the bowels soft and more in motion.
- Grab some probiotics at your local health food store. You may even be able to get them at your grocer or department store (do you have Walmart in your area?).
Probiotics are "good bacteria" like acidophilus, bifidum, longum, etc. that help maintain digestive health and promote good bowel motions. This will also boost your immune system so you'll be less likely to pick up any
bugs while traveling.
I use Florafood, but other good choices are Dr Whitaker's Pearl Biotics and Dr. William's Probiotic Advantage.
- If you can find it locally, get some Salba, Chia, or Flaxseed. Basically, these are grains that are rich in the essential fatty acids called Omega 3,6, and 9 oil. They also can help to keep the bowels running smoothly - incidentally, they are great for your skin and overall health, too. ;-)
You can just sprinkle a tablespoon of your preferred grain on your breakfast cereal or in something you eat throughout the day. They are pretty tasteless so it's not nasty or anything. Alternatively, you could just buy a good quality Omega 3,6, and 9 capsule to take each day. I like AIMega, but again, you won't get it in time!
- Some people find that just upping their dose of Vitamin C will enable them to have better bowel function. You could take 1000 mg. a few times throughout the day and you'll get the added benefit of helping to build your resistance against germs you may encounter while on the road
The truth is, different people respond better to different things. None of those suggestions should do you any harm and are likely to do the job, so it's up to you to determine which one or which combination to try.
I hope you have an enjoyable trip! In future, I'd suggest that you keep some Herbal Fiberblend on hand so that you have it available any time you travel or even if you get a bit of constipation at home. It's my favorite natural remedy for constipation. HFB and
Florafood are my "staple" supplies. :)
To your good health!Angie
