Constipation in 2 Year Olds

Why is my two year old daughter suffering from constipation even thou I am giving her lots and lots of Veg, and fruit?
Hi Kemone,
There are different reasons why little ones get constipation. A lot of times it is because they are not drinking enough water.
Good clean water is very important to keep the bowels working properly. Try to get your daughter to take a small drink of water every 30 minutes or so. You may even want to add a little squeeze of fresh lemon juice to the water.
Even though she eats lots of fruits and vegetables, does she also eat a lot of sugar or processed food? This can cause constipation, too.
There are times when a child has difficulty having a bowel movement and it is painful, that they start "holding it" to avoid the experience. This creates a pattern of constipation.
A nice warm bath and a tummy rub may help encourage her to go.
If you try all those things without success, see if you can locate some flaxseed or
salba grain to sprinkle on her food. They have good omega oils that are very good for eliminating constipation, too.
As a last resort, you may try small amounts of
Herbal Fiberblend (1/4 tsp) and it will definitely do the trick. It works wonderfully well, but you may be able to solve the problem just by giving her more water.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
To your good health!Angie
