Frequent Vaginal Infections

I've had recurring frequent vaginal infections, although I've visited the doctor 4 times last year and once since the new year began.
Apparently the antibiotics aren't working. Presently I'm using a herbal detox. Don't know if it will work?
Hi Lisa,
Frequent vaginal infections are usually the result of yeast overgrowth in the body. Unfortunately, antibiotics tend to make matters even worse in the long run because they kill off the good bacteria in your body, too.
Your body needs the good bacteria (called probiotics) to keep the yeast from growing out of control.
Instead of taking more and more antibiotics, consider taking probiotics and trying to build up the good bacteria in your immune system. I usually recommend
Florafood, but you may be able to find some good quality probiotics in your area (acidophilus, bifidum, longum, etc.).
It's good that you are using an herbal detox. If it is a high quality detox, it should definitely help. I would have recommended that, too (
Herbal Fiberblend).
Also, you should try to cut back on your sugar intake. Sugar feeds fungus, which is what the yeast really is.
If you can get some raw, organic apple cider vinegar, you can use the vinegar (straight or diluted) to cleanse the vaginal area. This will help with the itching, etc., and help to clear up the infection more quickly.
Another helpful option is to apply plain organic yogurt to the vaginal area. It's messy, but effective. Be sure the yogurt doesn't have any added sugar in it.
Finally, if you are sexually active, you may also be passing this infection back and forth. Guys get yeast infections, too. It would be wise for him to be taking probiotics and doing an herbal cleanse, too.
Hope this helps.
To your good health!Angie
