I Really Love Apple Cider Vinegar

Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar - Raw and Organic ACV
I'm a milk lover who wants to up her daily doses of ACV safely.
I really love Apple Cider Vinegar and I've been doing a tonic of Bragg's ACV, raw organic honey, water and raw crushed garlic.
It's been about a week. I originally started this routine because I was attempting to get over a horrible cold. Now, after doing some research, I'm in love with all the other potential health benefits.
I do tend to take this tonic mixture after eating a meal, once a day. It is 1/4 of a cup full, its strong, hardly diluted.
I honestly love the taste and have no problem "shooting" it like a shot of liquor. However...
I also really enjoy drinking multiple large glasses (16oz) of milk throughout my day. I am very cautious not to mix these two, knowing full well the ACV will cause the milk to curdle in my stomach. I am so concerned with the idea I may cause my self to become really ill.
I have been wanting to do more doses of ACV daily so that I may start seeing the benefits. What are my chances of making my self sick by upping my ACV tonic doses and not cutting back on my milk intake as well?
Thanks,
Darcy
Hi Darcy,
I love apple cider vinegar, too, and all the great benefits you can get from using it - from detox to overall improved health and skin conditions.
I'm not sure how much ACV you are using at one time. You said it's 1/4 cup, but that sounded like it was including the water, honey, and garlic, so how much actual ACV is in that serve?
You really only need 1-2 tablespoons of ACV at a time. I wouldn't go too crazy with it for various reasons. The first is because you don't need to in order to get the benefits and too much of a good thing can actually be too much.
If you detox your
body too quickly, you can make yourself feel quite ill from the detox symptoms. Slow and steady is much healthier.
In addition, although side effects from apple cider vinegar are rare, they aren't non-existent, so taking it in sensible amounts is your safest option.
I wouldn't worry too much about mixing the ACV in your stomach with the milk. I suppose it could give an upset stomach to some people, but I've heard other people actually mix their apple cider vinegar in with their protein shake, milk, etc.
If you were to add ACV to milk, you'd end up with buttermilk. :)
We all have different sensitivities, so you'll have to see if it makes you feel unwell.
Having said that, I would like to make a couple of suggestions to you.
- Try cutting back on the amount of milk you drink. I'm a fellow milk lover, but too much milk can have negative effects on the body.
For one thing, milk really hinders weight loss. That may not be a concern of yours, but I thought I'd mention that for others reading this.
Milk intake also contributes to allergies in a lot of people. I'm talking about the typical store-bought milk, of course, not milk straight from the cow (raw milk).
I was reading a recent study that too much milk even reduces your iron levels. So, all things considered, moderation is a good idea. :)
- The second suggestion I wanted to make is that you take your "ACV shot" a little before your meals rather than after.
The reason for this is because it will help aid your digestion process and allow your body to absorb more nutrients from the food that you eat.
Like I said, I really love apple cider vinegar, too, and it's one of the most inexpensive yet effective natural remedies available and underused by many. I hope you get long term benefits as you continue to use it as part of your daily regimen.
Blessings,
Angie
