Natural Progesterone and Armour Thyroid
by Laura

Hello,
I am currently taking 30MG capsule of Armour thyroid each morning. Is it safe for me to also begin using a natural progesterone cream?
I have been experiencing adverse symptoms, which I believe to be associated with estrogen dominance, due to having a radical hysterectomy in Oct. 2005. I was diagnosed with early stage ovarian cancer. I was not put on HRT afterwards.
Currently, I am battling fatigue, dissociative identity disorder, osteopenia, gluten intolerance, water retention, low libido, and hypothyroidism.(etc.)
Any advice or suggestions you have are greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Laura
Hi Laura,
I'm not a doctor, but according to what I have read by Dr. John Lee and others on the subject, women with hypothyroid who are taking thyroid supplements, like Armour Thyroid, can safely use natural progesterone cream.
In Dr. Lee's book, "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause," he talks about this issue and recounts that many women in this condition find that using natural progesterone cream allows them to eventually reduce and even eliminate their thyroid supplements altogether.
Apparently this is because the progesterone helps to improve the thyroid function overall by the affect it has on the production and balance of the other hormones the body needs to stay in balance and promote good health.
You may be able to pick this book up from your local library, but it is also quite inexpensive to purchase. It's a beneficial read and not written in too complicated terms. I found it quite helpful.
Apart from using the natural progesterone cream, you may also find it beneficial to supplement with
AIMega essential fatty acids and
BarleyLife whole food nutrition for some of the other conditions you are dealing with.
If you are NOT on HRT or ERT, you may also want to consider
RevitaFem as a natural aid.
I'm so sorry to hear of the cancer scare and the suffering you have endured. I lost my dear mother to cancer last year and it's a hard thing to bear, I know.
If I can be of further help, please let me know.
Blessings,
Angie
