Oil Of Oregano

by Joyce Ryan
(Tampa, Fl USA)

I had bug bites on parts of my body. I felt that they spread. I used oil of oregano topically and internally to treat my skin condition.

One day later and days later I had terrible itching sensations all over. I found black dots in all of my pores.

I now think this is my body getting rid of toxins. I am hoping for some answers. I had taken an antibiotic for 14 days several weeks prior to this.

Hi Joyce,

How much oil of Oregano did you use? Did you only use it for the one day and then have the severe reaction for several days following?

The oil has been known to be very effective as an antibacterial treatment and useful for treating fungal infections, including candida. But you are right in thinking that it may cause a reaction from die off and toxin elimination. You have to be careful to use it in small doses.

I'm wondering, though, if the itching may just be a personal allergic reaction to the oil of oregano. I suspect that might be the case.

I had a very severe itching reaction to Melaleuca oil a couple years ago, although I had used it without trouble for years before that.

The oil I used on that occasion was very strong (straight from the trees) and I paid for it with a couple of weeks of unbelievable itching all over my
legs where I had applied the oil. I literally scratched until I bled.

So, if you think you may be having a reaction from the oil of oregano itself, I'd discontinue use. I've discovered that I can no longer use that strong Melaleuca oil even in a small amount without getting a rash because of the sensitivity I developed.

The fact that you had a course of antibiotics recently may indicate that you have a candida (yeast) infection. Antibiotics are notorious for bringing them on. The Candida albicans fungus that grows in your intestinal tract goes on a rampage when the antibiotics kill off the good bacteria that normally keeps the Candida under control.

There are a wide range of symptoms that result. In women, vaginal itching is one of the most common, but there are many others as well.

Your best option to help get rid of any Candida would be to use Herbal Fiberblend to cleanse the colon and digestive tract, and also build up your good bacteria numbers by taking a high quality probiotic like Florafood.

If the "bug bites" you were experiencing were, in fact, the result of some form of parasite, the Herbal Fiberblend and Florafood will help in the elimination of that problem too.

I don't know if these are the answers you are looking for, but if you have further questions, feel free to ask.

To your good health!
