Recommended Dosages of Salba

What is the recommended dosages of Salba when using a chelation supplement?
I currently use Mega Chel to support my cardiovascular system.
Because this product removes toxic levels of minerals from my body, I add mineral supplementation.
I would like to use Salba to maintain adequate mineral levels. What is the recommended dosage under these circumstances?
Thanks,
Carolyn
Hi Carolyn,
This is an interesting question and one I haven't been asked before. :) Since I'm not a doctor, I can only share my own thoughts and opinions and you can take them as you see fit. I'll do my best!
I assume you are referring to Nature's Sunshine Mega-Chel supplement that you are taking for chelation purposes. I'm sure you must realize that it does contain a number of nutrients in it already, but additional supplementation is usually a good idea.
What I like about Salba/chia is that it isn't a manufactured "product" per se, but rather a whole food. It's a grain/seed and I think it would be rather difficult to "over-use" the food unless you really went crazy with it (as with most foods).
Generally speaking, your body is going to absorb what it needs and pass the rest that isn't needed, particularly when you are dealing with whole foods or natural nutrition.
The standard recommended dosages of Salba or chia is 1 to 5 tablespoons per day. Even in your particular situation, I honestly don't think you'll have any problems by staying within that range (even the high end), unless you have a severe problem with a particular mineral or nutrient of which I am unaware.
In most cases, adding some natural whole foods to your diet (like Salba) is the best way to get the right balance of the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that your body needs on a daily basis.
If you find that challenging (like my husband does), whole food supplements are the second best choice - like
Leaf Greens or the
Garden Trio.
I hope this explanation has been of some help to you.
To your good health!
