Severe Problem Of Constipation

I have a son who is 2.6 years old he is having very severe problem of constipation.
I also took him to the child specialist under whose treatment my son is since his birth. He had prescribed the medicine LOOSE but nothing has worked.
I give him papaya everyday and also mixed vegetable soup. I forcibly give him 1/2 glass milk either mixed with horlicks or complan, and 1/2 glass milk while preparing him rava or any other thing for his evening eat i.e. between 4 to 6 p.m.
He does not have enough water.
I would be grateful if you would advice me what vegetables, fruits, etc. to give my son for his constipation problem.
His stool is very hard and he is not satisfied after his motion.
Dear Guillo,
It sounds like you've identified one of the most important points in your son's severe problem of constipation. Your son is not getting enough water! This is VERY important in helping him to get rid of the constipation.
I would recommend you cut out the milk. Milk causes constipation in many people, and that may be the case with your son. The horlicks and complan are probably not doing him any favors either.
If you have a hard time getting him to drink plain water, maybe you could try adding a little fresh squeezed orange juice to the water to give it some more flavor. This may also help loosen his bowels.
Foods that relieve constipation for some people are:
- apples
- pears
- dried prunes
- dried apricots
- pineapple
- grapes
- mango
- beans
- broccoli
- almonds
- walnuts
- dates
- figs
- avocados
- watercress
Try to include more of these types of foods in his diet to improve his overall bowel health.
Also, whole grains like flaxseed, chia seed, and
salba seed are very helpful in increasing the amount of Omega essential fatty acids in the body and relieve constipation as a result. They don't taste bad at all, so they can easily be added to soups, cereal, yogurt, or even baked into favorite breads or cakes if necessary.
I hope you are able to find some helpful tips here that will work for you and your son. You definitely want to get this severe problem of constipation sorted out as quickly as possible. Chronic constipation can lead to long term health issues that you don't want your son to face, I know.
To your good health!Angie
