Turks and Caicos

by Cyndy
(Boynton Beach, FL, Palm Beach)

I went to the island of Turks and Caicos in about 2006 and stayed at the club med and everything was brought in for the all-inclusive buffet everyday.

After the first day, I started swelling and my ankles were kankels. I went to the nurse's office and they acted like nothing was wrong.

The next three days my tummy hurt, and I didn't want to eat anymore. I just ate salad and still swelled up.

I seem to battle this swelling everyday some days my ankles are ok and other days not..swelling in my hands and face.

I recently was put on blood pressure pill with a diuretic which helps little. I do get pale after being in the sun. I live in south Florida.

I eat healthy and am not a big person so the swelling looks more on me.

Do you think I got some bug there?

Thanks,
Cyndy

Hi Cyndy,

There's always the possibility of picking up a "bug" or parasite when traveling in the tropics, like Turks and Caicos.

There's no way for me to say for sure if that is indeed what happened in your case, but the fact that your troubles all started on that visit makes it certainly easy to suppose.

I assume your doctors (who prescribed the blood pressure medication and diuretic) are unable to figure out why you are having this swelling in your ankles, hands, and face?

I would definitely suggest that you give your body a good detox in the form of a natural herbal digestive cleanse. It's a safe option that won't do you any harm and may be exactly what you need to eliminate your problem.

When your body does pick up a parasite/bug, if it isn't eliminated quickly, it can grow and spread throughout your system, leaving you with
growing health concerns.

Try a minimum 3 month cleanse using Herbal Fiberblend twice per day. Start out with 1 tsp. morning and evening and increase over the course of 2 weeks up to 1 tablespoon morning and evening. Since you are of a small build, that should be sufficient for you (you'll need 3 bottles).

Continue on with the 1 tablespoon morning and evening for the rest of the 3 months and taper back down just as you increased.

This combination of herbs and fiber will help to cleanse your entire digestive tract of bacteria, parasites, etc., that you may have picked up in Turks and Caicos.

It's best to take your other medication 1 hour before or after taking the Herbal Fiberblend so you don't interfere with their strength and absorbency.

I would also suggest that you take 2 Florafood each day. This is good bacteria (probiotics) that your body needs to have a stronger immune system and fight off 'bugs.'

You can order the Herbal Fiberblend and Florafood here.

Meanwhile, to help with the swelling, you may want to consider using a more natural diuretic like dandelion extract or tincture. That's a liquid herbal supplement that you should be able to pick up at your local health food store.

You usually take 10-30 drops in water 1-3 times per day. It's pretty effective for edema (water retention/swelling) without the nasty side effects that go along with most prescription diuretics.

If you can't find the dandelion locally, I know you can get it at Vita Springs for less than $10.

I hope that you are able to get some relief soon. It's a real shame to have to go on living that way. Let me know if I can be of further help.

To your good health!
Angie
